Four men have been arrested and charged as part of a major police drug operation in Cairns. Operation Whiskey Sindel commenced in December, targeting cocaine trafficking in Kewarra Beach, Smithfield, Mount Peter and Mount Sheridan.
Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Far North arrested four men aged between 41 and 64 involved in tracking the drug in Cairns, after executing search warrants and finding quantities of cocaine, cannabis and cash along with several drug utensils and electronic devices.
The 64-year-old Kewarra Beach man was charged with four counts of possess dangerous drugs, and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs Schedule 1 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3 but less than Schedule 4, possessing anything used in the commission of a crime, offence to buy or possess S4 or S8 medicines, and obstruct police officer.
A 53-year-old Smithfield man was charged with one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of crime, and possess utensils or pipes.
A 41-year-old Mount Peter man was charged with two counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possessing anything used in the commission of crime, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence, and possess utensils or pipes.
A 53-year-old Mount Sheridan man was charged with one count of possessing dangerous drug Schedule 2 drug quantity of or exceeding Schedule 3.
All four men will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.
