$8M in Flood Relief for Queenslanders

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced an $8 million Community Relief Fund is now available for councils impacted by flooding and severe weather.


The PM arrived in North Queensland yesterday, to assess the damage caused by recent floods. The funding from the state and federal government will help kick off essential and immediate recovery activities like removing waste and debris, cleaning up properties and community facilities, playground and parks.

Up to $1 million dollars is allocated for Burdekin, Cassowary Coast, Charters Towers, Hinchinbrook, Palm Island, Townsville, Whitsunday and Yarrabah Councils.

Personal Hardship Assistance payments can also be access by eligible residents, with $180 available for individuals or up to $900 for households of five or more.

Eligible residents can apply via www.qld.gov.au/disasterhelp or call the Queensland Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.
