A man accused of a robbery in Cairns has been charged this morning.
Police say the 27-year-old assaulted a 68-year-old man and stole his suitcase outside a medical centre on Florence Street around 11.50pm Wednesday.
A witness has attempted to intervene but was allegedly threatened by the man with a knife.

Police conducted patrols locating the 27-year-old man a short time later.
He was charged with one count each of robbery and going armed so as to cause fear and two counts of common assault.
The man was denied bail and is expected to appear in Cairns Magistrates Court today.
